Professional qualifications are an obvious prerequisite for leadership (except in politics, as we are painfully finding out almost everywhere in the world). But this is not enough, communication, emotion, and empathy, terms that are covered in almost all leadership seminars, are actually of critical importance. This is nothing new: “If you want to build a ship, don’t nag people to gather wood and don’t give them tasks and don’t put them to work, but rather make them long for the distant, endless sea,” wrote Antoine de Saint-Exupery in his 1948 book “The City in the Desert/Citadelle”. Communication training is equally valuable for managers and other leadership figures, as well as anyone who wants to review and improve their communication patterns to enhance their success and well-being.
Employees who naturally subordinate themselves to their boss are not good sparring partners, they will generally avoid confrontation. Horses are ruthless, they would not accept clumsy politicians and they would not flatter anyone, so to speak. A reflexive and defensive communication behavior on the part of horses largely provides a mirror image, including the consequences, i.e. refusal or misinterpretation. Therefore, resonance in the relationship with the horse is authentic and of great value to anyone who wants to improve their communication and leadership skills. In training with the horse, the client learns to communicate more clearly and confidently. This reduces future misunderstandings with employees. In addition, there are enlightening insights into one’s misbehavior, the correction of which can make one’s own life and that of peers and employees considerably easier. This improves not only the atmosphere in the workplace but also productivity. In addition to the elements described here, the coaching seminar includes the proper use of resources. You can do virtually anything with any horse, you can take a cold-blooded heavy horse to a gallop race, or harness a thoroughbred to a tree trunk in the woods.
